GIS and remote sensing

This firm is a provider of Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping services.  This provides for the seamless integration of ecological information with mapping contained in databases held by councils and government agencies.  GIS also assists in communication between disciplines such as surveying, planning and architecture and provides the level of precision expected in project planning.  This firm subscribes to aerial photos supplied by Nearmap and is able to provide up to date high definition geo-referenced photos of sites throughout NSW.   The advantage of geo-referencing is that development layers can be laid over the aerial photo in GIS mapping to generate clear and precise images of the project.

offset scheme

BioBanking and NSW Biodiversity Offset Scheme

BioBanking commenced in 2008 and Peter Parker was accredited as a BioBanking assessor in 2010. Peter Parker is now an accredited assessor under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.

BioBanking sites which are now Stewardship sites under the BC Act provide a streamlined biodiversity assessment process which is accompanied by a rigorous and credible offsetting scheme.  The offset scheme identifies biodiversity gains in locations where it is most cost effective to do so.

Biodiversity certification is available to planning authorities and is a useful tool when large land holdings under multiple ownership are being considered for rezoning.  Once land has been Biocertified, there is no need to undertake additional biological assessments.
